Prof. (Dr.) Madhu Khanna (D. Phil. Oxon.) Author, scholar, curator, cultural researcher, and visionary. An eminent scholar of Tantric Studies, Indic and Religious Studies. From Oxford University’s Faculty of Oriental Studies, she earned a doctoral degree specializing in Hindu Shakta Tantra based on Kashmir Shaiva tradition, and news of her work and name are carried over the seas from New Delhi where she currently resides, to London where the Sunday Times Magazine, London, (13th July 1997: p.40) described her as ‘the respectable public face of modern Tantra’.
From magazines to the universities of America, Canada, Europe, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia and Australia where she has delivered various lectures, her name and reputation are recognized internationally. From east to west, her publications open minds to the beautiful and rich knowledge she shares. Of her publications, Yantra: The Tantric Symbol of Cosmic Unity and The Tantric Way: Art, Science & Ritual (coauthor) have gone into twenty editions in English with translations in German, French, Italian, Danish and Korean. Her other works share comparative success, and she has recently been nominated to the Academic Council of Nalanda University, Rajgir, India.
Prof. (Dr.) Madhu Khanna has been a faculty member of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, where she conceptualized and directed, Narivada- Gender Culture and Civilization Network of IGNCA, New Delhi and has curated six of their major art exhibitions.
All her works from lectures, to books, and award-winning curation of exhibitions shines light upon the authentic interpretation of Tantric art, culture and tradition. She is the founding member and chairperson of the Tantra Foundation, New Delhi, the Centre for Indic and Agamic Studies in Asia (CIASA), and Shri Kunja – A Rural Centre for Eco-Heritage and Green Consciousness, and her work continues to build bridges between the traditional and contemporary. Taking the knowledge of the past to meet modern adaptations.
